Atelier Kondakji was first established in 1976 by Syrian artist Farouk Kondakji in his family's historic house in the city of Homs in Syria. the space acted as a workshop for Kondakji to produce his paintings and soon grew to become a meeting point for fellow artists , poets and musicians and attracted  visitors who also wanted to be involved in what was one of the city's cultural hubs. Since then the artist's concept of the space have moved and flourished in Jeddah, KSA and soon Milan, Italy.
